When it comes to big hitters in the showbiz industry, you'd think the competition to be the best would eliminate any chance of forging genuine friendships.
But that's certainly not the case betweenCynthia Erivo, and Ariana Grande. The Brat hitmaker, 32, recently revealed that Ariana, who is currently starring in the silver-screen version of Wicked alongside grandma's reaction to her concert gave her words of advice ahead of her stint on Saturday Night Live.
Speaking to Variety magazine, Charli admitted that Ariana advised her on contact lenses - which she claims she chose to ignore. She told the publication: "She’d obviously just done [‘SNL’ in September] and killed it, so I was getting tips. She was just like, ‘You’re gonna be amazing, just relax, it’s so fun,’ but outside of her advice about contact lenses — which I ended up not going with on the night."
She added: " I really heeded [Lorne Michaels’] advice, which was just to trust the process, go with the flow and not try and overly control things that would automatically get figured out along the way. I listened to that advice because, I mean, how can you not?"
Ariana had also collaborated with Charli and it seemed they shared their experiences of being in the music industry when it came to writing lyrics for their song. She continued: "She had a lot to say. We went back and forth on the lyrics, talking about all the knives that we both felt in in this industry."
Charli may be known around the world performing to thousands of people but it seems there was one person sat in the audience at her Manchester gig, who was unimpressed. A video of a grandma's reaction to her concert went viral on social media earlier this month after she took her granddaughter to the show, not knowing what to expect.
Charli was playing to 23,500 people but she left the grandmother gobsmacked when she addressed the crowd saying" You f***ing ready or what?" Her granddaughter's clip was viewed one million times since she shared it on December 2. One follower wrote: "The fear in her eyes at the end, she had no idea what she put herself in for in that moment." Another person said: "She looks so terrified, bless her."
Meanwhile a third TikTok user said: "This is sooooo Brat! I love your granny, she's an OG party girl, I can just tell." And a fourth commented: "My mum uses me for concert tickets because I need easy access seating and I get a ticket for free because I need a carer. And honestly I respect it because she needs to benefit somehow."
In a follow-up video, Ellie said her grandma made a number of hilarious comments, which she shared with her followers. She revealed: "I like her shorts; I can't understand a f***ing word she's saying; All she's doing is singing to girls who are sad and lonely; I can see her a**e; Some of the words are quite vulgar."
