Cher's BF AE Edwards 'Inspired' Her to Go Back to Doing This for the First Time in Over a Decade

While Cher has caught some flack for her age-gap romance with boyfriend Alexander Edwards, it looks like the singer’s fans owe the 38-year-old music executive a big thank for how he “inspired” one of Cher’s next career moves. 

During her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to discuss her memoir, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, the singer confirmed her plans to return to the recording studio, following last March’s announcement about working on new music with her boyfriend.

Although Cher told fans she was getting back into her musical groove, the timing of a new album hasn’t exactly been clear. Towards the end of the interview, Fallon asked the question on everyone’s minds: “Could there be another album? Would you do another one?”

Cher, who released a greatest hits compilation, Forever, last September just before her eponymous memoir last week, replied, “I’m about to.”

Last year, Cher released her twenty-seventh studio album, Christmas, marking her first holiday album and her first album with original music in over a decade. Edwards, who produced the song “Drop Top Sleigh Ride” on the album, reignited her creative musical fire. He’s even been introducing her to new things, which seems impossible given the sheer scope of Cher’s musical catalogue.

“AE and Cher have been working on music together, and AE even helped produce her latest Christmas album,” a source shared just after Christmas dropped last year. “Everybody knows Cher is a music legend, but AE’s been trying to introduce her to a new sound with a little bit of New Age influence.”

Cher is feeling “inspired” by Edwards, and is “really excited” about collaborating with her beau come January, sources say, per Page Six. There have also been whispers of a potential Las Vegas residency. While one insider noted that there are no current plans, they added, “you never know.”
