Chihuahua Identifies the Only Non-Vegetarian in the Family: 'No Going Back'

1 month ago 6

Whenever food is involved, a dog will, more often than not, be right by your side, waiting patiently for any crumbs and testing their luck if the person eating will cave. While expected, one senior canine's focus on a particular person left viewers in stitches.

Begging is a common behavior for dogs. They do it simply because they like food and the smell. Plus, what humans eat tends to have more flavor than their meals, says Dogster. But they also beg because they're natural scavengers. The begging could be because they had difficulties finding food, or if you've caved before, they've learned the behavior works to get table scraps.

One senior Chihuahua on TikTok (@harley_the_chihuahua) is no stranger to begging. However, Harley learned the hard way that the food in the house is not the typically juicy meats he's been craving. Instead, it's a mostly vegetarian household, but that hasn't stopped him from sniffing out the only one who does eat meat. Now, Harley gravitates toward that person every single time.

In the September 27 TikTok video, the dad walks from the kitchen to the other room with a drink and food. Right on his heels, Harley follows because he knows there will be meat involved with the dad's meal. He chases him with some pep in his step and a giant smile. It's his time to shine—or so he thinks—to satisfy his meat craving.

"He always goes after my dad because he knows he has the goods," the owner told Newsweek via TikTok. "He will follow my dad around and bark at him the whole time he's eating."

While Harley typically only chases the dad around, he sometimes begs the vegetarians. The owner explained that Harley only does it if he finds the vegetarian meal interesting.

"After living with us for a couple years, he knew at dinner time, my dad had his favorite food," the owner said. "Sometimes, when my dad was done eating, he would come up to one of us, and we would try to share our food. Occasionally, he would eat it; sometimes, he would just walk away mad."

Harley means business when it comes to food. He will also bark sometimes after dinner is over for an hour or two. He can still smell the food in the house and thinks there is more for him to eat.

With 240,500 views on TikTok, people couldn't get over how the dog knew who to target with his begging.

"Harley knows where the goods are," commented one viewer, while a second echoed: "His wee smile because he knows the good stuff is incoming."

Another joked: "So your dad is not the only non-vegetarian in the house. Harley counts as well."

The owner commented, "He knows the good stuff now there's no going back."
