Christina Haack has been anything but coy when it comes to talking about her contentious divorce from her third ex-husband, Josh Hall. The HGTV star and former police officer split in July after only two years of marriage — and now, according to Haack, 18 of those months were not so rosy. The Flip-Off, the series she stars in alongside her first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, has been cathartic for Haack, who candidly discussed the difficulties of filming with Hall.

Though Haack and Hall are still legally married, they both filed for divorce in July, marking the end of their brief union. The divorce proceedings have been complex, particularly since there was no prenuptial agreement. Hall sought a hefty settlement, including a demand for $65,000 per month in spousal support. Haack’s legal team labeled this request as “outrageous” and pointed out that Hall is financially independent — but still fairly “insecure,” according to Haack.

Reflecting on the filming experience with Entertainment Tonight, Haack was candid about the tension she felt working with Hall. “When someone is insecure by you and doesn’t like to watch you win, that really puts a damper on everything,” she expressed. “I feel like I was not shining as bright, to try to not make him feel emasculated. But who wants to live like that?”

Haack further added, “It was not fun, to be honest. I did not enjoy filming with him, so having split up made this, to be honest, so much easier and so much better in every way.”

Haack also claimed that the dynamic and Tarek was a source of jealousy for Hall. “[Hall] doesn’t like our dynamic, because Tarek and I have our own dynamic, and some could call it ‘flirty.’” She characterized their rapport as more of a sibling relationship, which apparently did little to appease Hall’s discomfort.

In the end, this contentious celebrity split seems far from over, despite the legal papers being filed four months ago.
