Sabrina Carpenter leads Christmas chart race with 'Short 'N' Sweet', Michael Buble close behind

Sabrina Carpenter’s stellar year looks set to end on a high as the pocket-sized pop star, 25, is on course to bag this year’s Official Christmas Number 1 album.

Short ‘N’ Sweet, has already spawned a trio of UK Number 1 singles; Espresso, Please Please Please and Taste but doesn’t show any signs of having a short stay in the charts.

Given a boost from her Netflix special, A Nonsense Christmas, Sabrina’s sixth studio album, Short ‘N’ Sweet is looking to snatch a second non-consecutive week at Number 1 and receive the coveted Christmas honour.

Given Jesus was a carpenter it seems only fitting that Ms Carpenter’s LP reigns supreme on his birthday but she faces some stiff competition from a familiar festive favourite.

Hot on Sabrina’s heels in the midweek charts is Mr Christmas himself, Michael Buble. The Canadian crooner is never far from the Number 1 spot this time of year thanks to his 2011 offering, Christmas. The Yuletide classic is currently knocking around in second place - just 150 units behind Short ‘N’ Sweet.

Also in with a shot is Chappell Roan, with her debut The Rise and Fall of A Midwest Princess currently on course to be at Number 3 when the Official Christmas Number 1 album is announced on Friday. Taylor Swift ’s The Tortured Poet Department and Charli xcx’s viral sensation Brat make up the rest of the Top 5.

Sabrina will headline BST Hyde Park festival next summer, it has been announced. The US pop star is set to perform her UK number one songs Espresso, Taste and Please, Please, Please alongside her catalogue of hits on July 5 2025, with special musical guests Clairo and Beabadoobee.

The 25-year-old joins previously announced headliners including actor Hugh Jackman, country star Zach Bryan and Jeff Lynne’s ELO, alongside pop singers Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan on the bill. It comes after Disney child star Sabrina was nominated for six Grammy Awards ahead of the 67th ceremony in February.

Disco bop Espresso, which spent seven weeks at the top of the UK charts, secured Grammy nominations for record of the year and best pop solo performance. It was also named the biggest song of 2024 by BBC Radio 1, beating the likes of Charli XCX and Chappell Roan to the title.

Meanwhile, Sabrina is also competing for best new artist at the upcoming Grammys, while Please Please Please has been nominated for song of the year and her album Short N’ Sweet received an album of the year and best pop vocal album nod. This year’s festival saw headline performances from the likes of Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks, R&B singer SZA, pop artist Robbie Williams and country pop star Shania Twain.
