Cillian Murphy has revealed his plans to take a break from acting in 2025 after a busy few years.
The Cork native won an Oscar earlier this year for his role in Oppenheimer, and is back on screens at the moment as the star of film Small Things Like These.
He is also currently filming the Peaky Blinders film, which is due to be released in late 2025 or earlier 2026.

He's been extraordinarily busy, so it's no surprise he wants to take some well-deserved downtime next year.
"I mostly want to have a rest next year," he told the Brendan O’Connor programme on RTÉ Radio 1. Speaking about his Oscar win, he added: "I just went straight back to work. That was my way of dealing with it. ‘It was an amazing dream-like thing to happen. I still haven’t fully figured it out."
"Everyone gets caught up in it.," he continued. "You do and your friends do and it obliterates everything for a couple of months and then you’re thrown out the other end of it. And it is very beautiful and positive and you feel immensely grateful and humble."
He was the first Irish -born actor to win the Leading Actor Award, but he admitted that filming the hit Oppenheimer took its toll on him.
"It took a lot out of me playing that part," said Cillian. "All the good ones always do. It’s nice to go back after a big project to walking the dog and buying milk and cutting the grass."
Peaky Blinders fans were delighted to hear confirmation that the popular show would be making a comeback in the form of a film, which is shooting at the moment.
"We started shooting it [the TV show] in October 2012, so it’s been 12 years," said Cillian, of his role as Tommy Shelby. "It takes a bit of time to get back into it – the voice and the physicality – but it does feel like he starts driving the car very quickly.
"It’s nice to be back with everybody and we’re going into week four of 12. We’re on nights though, which is grim. Brutal."
