CNN Exit Poll Result: Georgia Voters Rate Economy as Top Issue in Boost for Trump

Early exit poll data suggested Tuesday night that 40 percent of Georgia voters rated the economy as the most important issue in the election.

In a positive sign for Donald Trump, CNN exit polls showed a slim majority of 51 percent of voters felt the Republican Party candidate would be the one to deliver in a crisis, against 47 percent for Vice President Kamala Harris.

The divide came alongside a question on deliveries of hurricane aid, following recent storms, with half of voters saying federal aid was not getting through, compared to 47 percent who said it was.

Other top issues for Georgia voters were democracy on 28 percent, abortion on 14 percent, immigration on 11 percent, and foreign policy on 3 percent.

With 16 votes up for grabs, Georgia forms part of the two quickest paths to the White House for Trump.

Assuming other states do not flip, if he takes Georgia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, he'll win the Electoral College vote. Alternatively, he could take Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania and win his second term.

Almost third of the state's voters are African-American - NBC's exit poll data showed Trump's support among Black voters has risen from 10 percent in 2020 to 14 percent in 2024.
