‘Cobra Kai’ Trailer: Miyagi-Do Is at Another Karate Tournament, and There’s ‘No Way’ They Can Win

1 month ago 2

Do we really need a three-part final season of “Cobra Kai“? Netflix thinks so.

Trailers-wise, we are officially two-thirds of the way through the sixth and final season of the “Karate Kid” sequel series, which started way back in 2018 as a YouTube Premium show. Remember those days?

Since then, “Cobra Kai” has settled in nicely at Netflix. It’s a reliable series, though not an all-timer.

Now, in the Season 6-B trailer released on Wednesday, the Miyagi-do and Cobra Kai dojos head to Barcelona for the Sekai Taikai tournament. From Valley champs to world champs? Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) doubts it.

“There’s no way we can win,” he says in the trailer.

Spoiler alert: There probably is a way.

On the bad side of the mats, Sensei John Kreese (Martin Kove) is fighting free.

“Some of us have nothing to lose,” he reminds Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio).

“Cobra Kai” is written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg via their production company, Counterbalance Entertainment. Will Smith, James Lassiter, and Caleeb Pinkett executive produce for Westbrook Studios, along with Susan Ekins in association with Sony Pictures Television. (Smith acquired the IP when his son Jaden Smith starred in 2010’s “The Karate Kid.”)

Series stars Macchio and William Zabka also serve as executive producers.

Martin Kove, Xolo Maridueña, Jacob Bertrand, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Peyton List, Courtney Henggeler, Vanessa Rubio, Dallas Dupree Young, Yuji Okumoto, Alicia Hannah-Kim, Griffin Santopietro, Oona O’Brien, Lewis Tan, Patrick Luwis, and Rayna Vallandingham also star in “Cobra Kai.”

“Cobra Kai” Season 6-B premieres November 15 on Netflix. “Part 3,” aka “The Finale Event,” is coming sometime in 2025.

Also coming in 2025 is “Karate Kid: Legends,” a continuation of the franchise in which Macchio will again reprise his (at one time) titular role. Also back is Jackie Chan, the action star who trained Jaden Smith in “The Karate Kid.”

The new kid karate-ing in the new “Karate Kid” installment is Ben Wang. All of the “Karate Kid” worlds will unite with the film’s release on May 30.
