Coldplay brings out The Karate Kid star Ralph Macchio on stage in Melbourne

Coldplay had a very famous '80s Hollywood star join them on stage in Melbourne.

During the band's second night at Marvel Stadium, frontman Chris Martin invited someone from the crowd to join him on stage to help him sing the next song.

In fan-captured footage, Martin began to attempt to sing but seemed to lose his voice.

"I can't sing," he told the crowd with a raspy voice, telling them he needed "some help".

Martin then seemed to ask if anyone in attendance knew how to sing.

The Yellow singer spotted someone in the audience, pointing out "this guy" and ushering him to come up on stage.

But it wasn't just any concertgoer.

The camera panned to reveal it was none other than The Karate Kid icon Ralph Macchio, dressed casual in a denim jacket for his surprise sighting Down Under.

After sharing a handshake with Martin, Macchio took to the microphone to perform while the Coldplay star played piano behind him.

At the end of his song, Macchio threw up his hands in celebration to a roar from the crowd and big grin from Martin himself.

Before leaving the stage, the Cobra Kai star shared a hug with Martin.

The Karate Kid cast: Then and now ahead of the remake

Coldplay are in the middle of their Australian tour which kicked off in Melbourne on Wednesday, October 30.

The rock band have two more shows in Melbourne before heading to Sydney's Accor Stadium for four more sold-out gigs.

Coldplay teased Macchio's surprise appearance just hours before with a cryptic post.

The band shared a photo of the original 1984 movie poster for The Karate Kid, which stars Macchio as Daniel LaRusso, to their Instagram story.

"If you're coming to the show today in Melbourne, you might want to watch the original Karate Kid beforehand," the band said.

Macchio rose to fame in the first Karate Kid film which followed a young Daniel who is bullied at his new school and learns karate from his apartment janitor, Mr. Miyagi.

The actor reprised the role for two more films in the '80s.

Over 30 years later, he returned in 2018 as Daniel in The Karate Kid spinoff series, Cobra Kai.

The show, which stars many of the original franchise cast like William Zabka, is currently in the middle of airing its sixth and final season on Netflix.
