As the Indianapolis Colts dropped their third straight game and fell to 4-6, putting them in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for the fourth straight season, Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II called out the effort of his team.
"I don't think everybody is working as hard as possible, and obviously it's showing," Moore said after the game. "I'm not the type to sugarcoat it honestly, I don't think the urgency is there, I don't think the details are there, I don't think the effort is there. I don't see everything correlating from meetings to practice to games and it shows."
The Colts battled with the Buffalo Bills for the majority of the first half. The Bills took a 20-13 lead going into the half, and the Colts had the opportunity to tie up the game until the fourth quarter when Buffalo put the game out of reach.
Moore, who recorded an interception of Josh Allen and five tackles in the loss, spoke cynically of the Colts' chances of turning their season around.
"We are in November, and I just don't see us making that jump ... I'm seeing the same thing," Moore said. "I think a lot things we gotta just start addressing it and not sugarcoat or beat around the bush. Honestly, year to year it's the same thing."
Though Moore does not see the Colts coming out of the hole, he did offer a few ways the Colts can get better down the stretch.
"You've got to define yourself, you've got to define the identity of the team," Moore said. "We gotta look ourselves in the mirror and ask ourselves how bad we want it ... the thing that's frustrating is you're letting things leak into another week ... to go out and do the same mistakes over and over, I think that's what drives me insane."
The Colts have remained a middle-of-the-pack team for the most part since Andrew Luck stunningly retired before the 2019 season. The Colts did make the playoffs under Phillip Rivers in 2020 but have been unable to become consistently good at the quarterback position and as a team.
Indianapolis drafted Anthony Richardson No. 4 overall in 2023 to try and fortify the quarterback spot but benched him this season for Joe Flacco, who has lost his last two starts.
The Colts will try to break their losing streak with a matchup against the struggling New York Jets next week.
