Do you ever find that your go-to fragrance just isn't lasting as long anymore? Sometimes, you can apply it in the morning before work, and the smell has faded by midday.
But there's no need to abandon your favourite scent over this. A simple science-backed trick could revive your perfumes and aftershaves and make them smell great for hours after you first put them on.
Some even claim this trick helped the once lacklustre sprays "last all day". Taking to TikTok, dermatologist Dr Adel (@Aamnaadel) claims that an inexpensive pot of Vaseline is the answer to your problems.
In her video, which has racked up more than a million views at the time of writing, the dermatologist claimed that the petroleum jelly was the best way to guarantee long-lasting fragrances. Before dousing in her chosen perfume, Dr Adel rubbed Vaseline across key points on her body where she'd be spraying.
She explained that perfumes and aftershaves fade over the day because the liquids evaporate. This is where Vaseline becomes a true hero. The doctor said: "If you apply Vaseline, which basically has no water content, it means less evaporation of your perfume. It lasts for way longer."
Poundland is selling a 50ml tub of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly Original for just £1. Or there's a 100ml tub of it available at Boots for £2.50.
As well as the Vaseline tip, Dr Adel warned we shouldn't be rubbing our wrists together to spread our perfume. This could actually "alter the scent" and "make it fade faster".
The dermatologist also added: "If your perfume disappears it might be because your applying it to dry skin. Perfume clings to emollients like Vaseline and evaporates slower meaning longer lasting fragrance."

Someone else shared their own genius take on this process. They wrote: "I buy the mini plain Vaseline ones in lip section to do this. Little mini travel size for my purse!" Others claimed this trick also worked with other skin lotions and jellies, assuming the same barrier-blocking science outlined by Dr Adel applied.
