Cynthia's performance was highly acclaimed. She won a Tony in 2016, and she also won an Emmy and a Grammy for her work. It's not a stretch to say that The Color Purple is literally the reason why she's close to EGOT'ing.

Cynthia was nominated twice at the 2019 Oscars, for her performance as Harriet Tubman in Harriet and for the film's song "Stand Up" — but she didn't win for Best Actress or Best Original Song. Hey, with Wicked, maybe this will be her year!
