A parent's attempt at baking his family a fresh batch of croissants has ended up in disaster, leaving both his daughter and viewers online in hysterics.
The pastries that Clara Norling's dad had tried to cook had ended up looking much closer to breadsticks after they failed to rise in the oven—likely the result of a botched recipe. Norling shared the hilarious result to TikTok under @claranorling on November 10, to plenty of laughter from viewers online. The post, which had comically been captioned "good job dad," has since been viewed more than 4.6 million times.
While baking croissants may not be one of his strengths, Norling's dad is, according to his daughter, indeed a great cook.
"Normally, I post about my life working with horses, but this one was too funny not to post online," Norling, an equestrian based in Sweden, told Newsweek. "After living abroad, I am back at my parents' house, and it's great because I always get free food and my dad is great at cooking.
"He was going to try out baking as well, but it didn't turn out like he planned and we were laughing about it together!" she added.
Norling shares a close bond with her dad, calling him the "nicest and most supportive person on the planet."
"He is really the type of dad that just knows everything, but apparently not baking croissants," Norling said. "The video went totally viral, which definitely was not expected.
"My dad thinks that it's crazy that over 4 million people saw the video, but also really funny."
Viewers were able to see a short clip of the narrow and slightly burnt croissants, while an overlaid text on the video read: "I don't know if I should laugh or cry."
Viewers on TikTok have joined in with the father-daughter duo's laughter at the oddly shaped croissants, with more than 2,300 leaving amused comments.
"Searching for this croissant breadstick recipe right now," Google wrote, under its official TikTok account, @google.
"What happened," another viewer, @readingamilliebooks, added.
A third user, @tshego_fatso4722, posted: "I thought those were dehydrated bananas."
"That's a cheese twist," a fourth, @nataliiaa009, commented.
Another comment, by @aw32458, read: "My older brother [and] I made cookies like this when we were young [and] then tried to feed them to the dog so our parents wouldn't find out. She wouldn't eat them either so we buried them in the backyard."
