A 2-year-old boy from Los Angeles is going viral on the internet for stealing the spotlight from his mom on her birthday.

In a clip posted on Instagram, Reza Khan, 28, wanted to create a special birthday moment for his wife, Puja Tailor Khan, complete with chocolate cake, candles and matching pajamas for the three of them.

"As we sat down, it quickly became Sher's spotlight moment and all about him," Puja, also 28, told Newsweek.

Reza kicked off his speech intended to honor his wife: "I'm a much better person, man, and dad because of you," only for Sher to excitedly interject, "You want cake! You want cake!"

Just as Reza tried to get back to saying a few words, Sher decided it was time to sing "Happy Birthday"—on his own terms. Reza and Sher then tag-teamed a disjointed version of the song, with Reza starting, "Happy birthday to..." only for Sher to proudly finish, "Sher!" on the last line.

The interruptions didn't stop there. As Puja and Reza closed their eyes to make a birthday wish, Sher stared at the candle and innocently observed, "It's turning off," right before his mom finally blew it out.

When it was time to cut the cake, Sher, eager as ever, assumed the first bite was his, but Reza lovingly corrected him, "Yeah, it's not your bite, buddy."

Luckily, Puja found the whole thing hilarious, despite her son wanting to be the main character on her special day.

"I loved it. I think there's something to say about how kids just speak their truth. Whether it's their pure desires and wants, their pure innocence or their pure goofiness. He made me crack up more than any other year I've had in front of a birthday cake, and I wouldn't have it any other way," she told Newsweek.

Puja's clip has clocked up over 3 million views and counting, with hundreds of comments from other Instagram users who admired Reza for ensuring Puja got the first taste of her birthday cake.

"OK, but the way he made sure his wife got the first bite, making sure his son understands who's still the priority is top-tier husband behavior," one user wrote, while another called Reza a "pure gentleman."

Amid the playful chaos, Puja still appreciated the thoughtful gesture from her husband. "Reza always slows me down. His words about how much I mean to him and the family always cut through the noise (even if that noise is my son repeating he wants cake) and make my heart smile. He's the most thoughtful man I've ever come across," she said.

While the birthday celebration wasn't elaborate, it was one Puja will remember for a long time. "I just want more birthdays like this with one, two, three, four, maybe five kids where it's chaos, entertainment, and just pure soul of our family," she told Newsweek.
