David Schwimmer is back on our screens as a new season of the Goosebumps reboot debuts today. The Friends star fronts Goosebumps: The Vanishing, the second instalment of the anthology series inspired by R.L. Stine’s beloved horror novels that’s streaming now on Disney+.

As per the official synopsis, the eight-part series begins with fraternal twins Devin (Sam McCarthy) and Cece (Jayden Bartels) adjusting to life with their recently divorced dad, Anthony (Schwimmer). When the duo discovers a threat stirring, they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery.

As they delve into the unknown, Devin, Cece and their friends find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994. Every episode of Goosebumps: The Vanishing is available to stream now on Disney+, which fans can join from £4.99 per month.

Members can get the equivalent of two months free by paying for a year up front on the Standard or Premium plan, bagging 12 months for the price of 10 and saving up to £25.98. The Standard plan now costs £89.90, while the Premium plan is £129.90 and also includes higher video quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, plus the ability to stream on four devices simultaneously.

Disney+ now costs as little as £4.99 a month, but members can get 12 months for the price of 10 by paying for a year upfront on the ad-free Standard or Premium plans.

Disney+ is the only place to stream hit shows like Rivals, The Bear and Shōgun, plus blockbuster franchises like Star Wars and Marvel.

Alongside Schwimmer – best known for his iconic role as Ross Geller in Friends – the series also stars Ana Ortiz, Jayden Bartels, Sam McCarthy, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, Francesca Noel and Stony Blyden. In an interview with Good Morning America, Schwimmer described the series as a ‘scary, funny action-suspense-thriller’.

“It’s a lot of fun and kind of scary and there’s also a lot of heart,” he added. The Vanishing is the second season of the Disney+ Goosebumps reboot, following its 2023 debut starring Justin Long. Stine’s Goosebumps is one of the bestselling book series of all time, with more than 400m books in print in 32 languages, according to Disney.

It spawned a hugely popular TV series that ran for four seasons between 1995 and 1998, as well as two film adaptations starring Jack Black as a fictional version of the author. The new series is inspired by the Goosebumps novel Stay Out of the Basement and has been developed by Detective Pikachu writer-director Rob Letterman, The Muppets writer Nicholas Stoller and Hilary Winston, who serves as showrunner.

Elsewhere, Apple TV+ is days away from dropping the long-awaited second season of Severance. Ben Stiller and Adam Scott’s dystopian workplace thriller will be available to stream for £8.99 per month after a seven-day free trial from January 17.
