DeAndre Hopkins hinted at Chiefs trade with cheeky Taylor Swift reference

The Kansas City Chiefs may have solved their wide receiver problems by trading for the Tennessee Titans' DeAndre Hopkins, and he may have leaked the news days before penning a deal by playing Taylor Swift songs on social media.

The Chiefs' Travis Kelce is dating the billionaire Eras Tour star so what better way to cryptically hint at making the switch to Missouri by jamming to her music? And that's exactly what the 32-year-old did.

A video showed his family sitting in the car with Swift's famous 22 track blaring in the background as Hopkins said, regarding the links, "Rumor has it." Humorously, all of the family were in Titans gear too.

The deal was completed on October 23, and as per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Chiefs will send a condition fourth-round pick in the opposing direction as they pick up a fresh weapon for Patrick Mahomes to use.

Hopkins' trade comes as Andy Reid bids to navigate injuries to Hollywood Brown, Isiah Pacheco, Rashee Rice, JuJu Smith-Schuster, poor form by Kelce and an absence by Clyde Edwards-Helaire which threatens to break their season despite their 6-0 record.

The veteran has made 15 receptions for 173 yards and a touchdown through six games in the 2024/25 NFL season, as well as historically averaging 943 receptions for 12,528 yards and 79 touchdowns from 1529 targets in 168 games.

He previously played for the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals before spending two years in Tennessee on a $26 million deal. Hopkins is also a had three first-team All-Pro appearances since becoming the 27th pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.
