Paul Mescal's mum Dearbhla has shared the sweet gesture her son made to her doctor at the Irish premier for Gladiator II.
Dearbhla was diagnosed in July 2022 with multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer that can affect the spine, skull, pelvis and ribs.
She documented her treatment online, including a stem cell transplant last year, and shared the very happy news earlier this year that her illness is now in remission.

Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan on her RTE Radio 1 show, Sunday with Miriam, Dearbhla shared that Paul invited her doctor along to the Irish premiere of the film as a thank you for looking after his mum while she was unwell.
She said: “Paul actually invited my doctor to the premiere, so that was so lovely, it was so lovely to see him out of context", she said.
"My body has accepted the treatment and is continuing to accept the treatment."
She shared that she an her husband Paul Sr are very fortunate to be in good health and retired in their 50s.
"The two of us are very lucky, we’re retired and we’re in good health and that’s kind of unusual in your 50s, so I’m feeling very lucky and feeling very blessed.
"My three children are well and I don't think any parent can ask for more than that, to be honest."
Dearbhla is mum to three children - Paul, Donncha and Nell.
Speaking on how the premier was for the family, she added that it was emotional to see the reaction to her son Paul's performance.
"It was actually quite incredible and I heard Paul talking about being overwhelmed but in a good way."
"Some times things are just so huge for you that you just have to soak it all in, and we really, really did. To hear your child's name being shouted and the fabulous music of The Gladiator behind it was pretty awe inspiring.
"I got very emotional, I have to say and he did as well as. It was one of those things where you're sharing this big moment, kind of like a wedding, but there's loads of cameras!"
