Jamie Foxx and Denzel Washington are among the esteemed group of actors nominated for the 2025 Golden Globe awards. Announced on Monday morning (Dec. 9) by Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut, the talent list recognizes entertainers across 27 award categories.

Jamie Foxx is up for the trophy in the Best Performance In Stand-Up Comedy On Television category for his soon-to-be-released Netflix comedy special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was… Due on the streamer on Tuesday (Dec. 10), the stand-up is described as detailing his April 2023 medical emergency, through comedy. The health scare left him hospitalized and sparked rumors and conspiracy theories.

Washington is up for Best Performance By A Male Actor In A Supporting Role In Any Motion Picture for his standout role in Gladiator II. With the nomination, the 69-year-old counts 11 career Golden Globe nominations, the most of any Black performer in history.

Additional notable nominees include Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) and Zendaya (Challengers) both competing for Best Performance By A Female Actor In A Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy, Colman Domingo (Sing Sing) for Best Performance By A Male Actor In A Motion Picture – Drama, and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) for Best Performance By A Female Actor In A Supporting Role In Any Motion Picture.

On the silver screen, Ayo Edibiri (The Bear) and Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) are up for Best Performance By A Female Actor In A Television Series – Musical Or Comedy with Donald Glover (Mr. And Mrs. Smith) competing in the Best Performance By A Male Actor In A Television Series – Drama category.

Also at next year’s ceremony, Viola Davis will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award, joining the likes of Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, and more.
