In a bizarre attempt to attend Taylor Swift's Miami concert, a Florida man was arrested after allegedly posing as a security guard. The incident took place on Friday, October 18th, at Hard Rock Stadium during Swift's "Eras Tour" performance.
The man, identified as Ivan Mariotti, was caught trying to gain access to the event by pretending to be part of the venue's security team.
Local reports indicate that Mariotti was charged with falsely impersonating an officer and interference with a sporting or entertainment event. He was spotted near the stadium's field area by actual security, dressed in a suit with a badge around his neck to complete the disguise.
A bold attempt at clandestine access went awry
When confronted by authorities, Mariotti claimed he had been hired by four women to act as their personal security guard, escorting them to their seats inside the venue.
However, two of the women informed the police that their aunt had only hired a driver for the evening, and they had no knowledge of Mariotti's involvement or why he was wearing a security badge. Despite being challenged, Mariotti continued to insist that he worked for "multiple companies" as he was led out of the stadium.
Following his removal, Mariotti was arrested and booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. As an Italian national, he remains in custody on an immigration hold, with a bond set at $1,500.
This incident mirrors the actions of a fan last year who successfully became a legitimate security guard to attend one of Swift's concerts. However, unlike that determined Swiftie, Mariotti appears to have skipped the official steps and was quickly caught.
Taylor Swift's "Eras Tour" will continue with shows in New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto, and Vancouver. With the tour's massive popularity, fans are advised to seek legitimate ways to get tickets rather than resorting to desperate measures like Mariotti's failed stunt.
