Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are facing divorce rumors after 10 years of marriage.
The low-key couple met in 2010 and fell in love, fast. “We connected on all levels,” Simpson wrote in her memoir, Open Book, in 2020, per People. “We both were ready for the real deal.”

Over 14 years later, Simpson and Johnson, who tied the knot on on July 5, 2012, share three kids: Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, born in 2012, Ace Knute, born in 2013, and Birdie Mae, born in 2019. But while their sweet social media posts about each other might’ve swooned fans over the years, new reports are indicating some trouble in paradise.
Did Jessica Simpson & Eric Johnson Break Up?
Simpson and Johnson have not yet confirmed whether they are broken up. However, on Nov. 14, People reported that Simpson and Johnson are essentially separated. “She’s working on music and splits her time between Los Angeles and Nashville. Eric spends all of his time in L.A., where the kids go to school,” the source told the outlet. “Jess and Eric very much live separate lives.”

Jessica Simpson met her husband Eric Johnson and May 2010 and started dating right away.
“I fell head over slippers in love with this perfect man 10 YEARS ago today!” Simpson said of their first encounter back in May 2020 on Instagram. “By chance, he knocked on my dreamy cottage door (sigh), I let him in and never let him leave. He is mine, I am his…forever.”
By July, their relationship went public with pictures of them traveling to Capri, Italy, together.

November 11, 2010: Simpson & Johnson Get Engaged

Six months into their relationship, their reps confirmed that Johnson had popped the questions. “Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged!” the rep told People.
Prior to their engagement, Simpson had gushed to the outlet about their connection. “This is just normal, thank God. He’s very, very supportive,” she said. “[I] couldn’t ask for a better man in my life right now.”

May 2, 2012: Simpson & Johnson Welcome Their Daughter

Almost a year after their engagement, Simpson shared that she was pregnant with her first baby. Dressed up as a mummy for Halloween, Simpson delivered the news. “It’s true – I’m going to be a mummy!” she wrote on Instagram.
Their first daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, was born on May 1, 2012.
“Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson,” she wrote on her website, People reports. “We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!”

June 30, 2013: Simpson & Johnson Welcome a Son

Later that year in 2012, Simpson shared a picture of baby Maxwell on Twitter announcing her second pregnancy. Alongside their firstborn dressed as a candy cane, the words “Big Sis” were written in the sand.
Simpson and Johnson welcomed their first son, named Ace Knute, on June 30, 2013.
“With two kids, we have our hands full, but every day is a new adventure,” Simpson told Us Weekly of her growing brood. “It’s fun! I feel very at peace with being a mom.”

July 5, 2014: Simpson & Johnson Tied the Knot

Simpson and Johnson got married on July 5, 2012, over four years into their relationship.
“We are overwhelmed with complete happiness and love having made our eternal commitment,” the newlyweds told People at the time.
“To say ‘I do’ in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives,” they said. The pair got married at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California.

March 19, 2019: Simpson & Johnson Welcome Baby #3

After their surprise announcement that they were expecting their third baby on September 18, 2018, Simpson welcomed their third baby and second daughter, Birdie Mae, on March 19, 2019.
“We are so happy and proud to announce the birth of our perfect daughter, Birdie Mae Johnson. 3.19.19,” Simpson announced on Instagram. “10 Pounds 13 Ounces.”

November 12, 2024: Breakup Rumors Swirl

After not being seen with Johnson for several months, on Nov. 12, 2024, Simpson surprised fans as she announced her comeback to music but her Instagram announcement only surfaced more rumors.
“Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,” she wrote in the caption of a gallery of photos of her on Instagram. “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve 🎶 🎼 🤍🖤.”
The caption, of course, had fans speculating some trouble in paradise for Simpson and Johnson. Did Johnson do something against her that she didn’t deserve? Why is she apologizing to herself?

As fans continued to speculate over Simpson’s post, People reported that they were, essentially, separated after Johnson was spotted without his wedding ring.
“She’s working on music and splits her time between Los Angeles and Nashville. Eric spends all of his time in L.A., where the kids go to school,” a source told the outlet. “Jess and Eric very much live separate lives.”
The report came days after TMZ reported that someone in Simpson’s inner circle had contacted a divorce attorney.
