The Digital Arret Scams are increasing at a fast pace in India. Most scams take place through Skype calls. Citing all this, Skype has now released real-time warnings on its platforms to protect users from impersonators who pretend to be from law enforcement agencies and the government. The warnings on the platform are triggered as soon as a few specific keywords are used in a conversation. The latest update by Skype will help users alert and educate them about potential scams.
Skype’s real time fraud alert feature
The real time warning system of Skype is a part of their bigger strategy to fight scammers who dupe people by pretending to be law enforcement officials. In addition, the platform has also launched safety features – control incoming calls by limiting reporting them to known contacts, options to report suspicious messages, and even blocking unwanted calls.
Report suspicious messages by right clicking or long pressing the messages to report them.
You can also block any suspicious account by simply visiting their profile page.
Restrict your calls to known contacts by heading to Settings and then Privacy.

As mentioned by a senior government official, Skype has already removed a lot of accounts that are pretending as agencies like CBI, Enforcement Directorate, and even Narcotics Control Bureau. In a report published by News18, an official has claimed that legal action is initiated against 100 accounts on the platform.
For those who don’t know, digital arrest scams are the ones in which the scammers dupe and trap their targets by telling them that they have been involved in a drug case or any sort of legal case. After which, they ask for money from the victim to make the case disappear.
