On the heels of Disney and Lululemon’s first-ever collaboration, another activewear brand has teamed with the media empire on a Disney-inspired collection. This time, it’s from Actively Black, and draws inspiration from Africa’s vibrant culture and the upcoming feature film, Mufasa: The Lion King.
This drop marks the second collaboration between Disney and the sportswear brand, following the 2022 collection with Marvel Studios for the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (with a few styles and sizes still in stock). The limited-edition Disney Mufasa: The Lion King x Actively Black capsule will be available to shop tomorrow, Dec. 10 at activelyblack.com.
Actively Black produces premium athleisure and sports apparel that celebrates Black style and culture, and supports Black communities, consumers and athletes around the world. Proceeds go towards educational programs and resources that promote physical, mental and emotional health and support HBCU athletics, social justice initiatives and diversity and representation advocacy.
The Dec. 10 clothing drop comes ahead of the Barry Jenkins-directed film’s Dec. 20 theatrical release, and features movie-inspired designs across Actively Black’s premium sportswear silhouettes for men and women: hoodies, joggers, tights, sports bras and t-shirts, crafted from the brand’s signature performance and loungewear fabrics.
“Mufasa’s journey, as told in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, is one of greatness, pride, and interconnectedness — values that are at the heart of Actively Black,” says Lanny Smith, Actively Black’s founder. “[The collection] honors Mufasa’s legacy and celebrates the richness of African culture that shaped the impact of the franchise across generations.” As such, the designs include Mufasa-themed graphics, artwork and patterns inspired by the African savanna.
Check out the limited-edition collection at activelyblack.com, and catch Mufasa: The Lion King in theaters on Dec. 20. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Blue Ivy Carter are among the voice cast for the music-filled movie, which features seven songs written by Lin Manuel-Miranda.
