Dodgers Projected To Cut Ties With World Series Hero Following $182 Million Signing

The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to build their powerhouse roster on Tuesday night when they agreed to terms on a $182 million deal with San Francisco Giants ace Blake Snell.

In response to this signing, the Dodgers are going to need to cut ties with multiple players to make room for Snell.

FanSided's Wynston Wilcox predicts the Dodgers will cut ties with one of their longtime starting pitchers. Wilcox expects Los Angeles to let Walker Buehler walk in free agency as he chases a short-term contract.

"It looks like the Dodgers chose Snell over Walker Buehler. Buehler didn't have a strong 2024 season. He posted a 1-6 record 16 starts this past season with a 5.38 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Despite a strong showing in the postseason and World Series, the Dodgers were ready to move on," Wilcox wrote. "Buehler spent a fair amount of 2024 on the injury list and after a return from a hip injury, he did enough to help the Dodgers win a championship. Only time will tell if this was a reasonable upgrade."

Cutting ties with Buehler is the obvious move here. There's no room for him in the Dodgers rotation at this point and he could benefit from a change of scenery with a new team.

Buehler is a candidate for a one- or two-year deal with a borderline-contending team as he looks to turn his career back around following multiple serious injuries.
