Professional dog trainer and 18-year law enforcement veteran Garret Wing has shared the three best family-friendly breeds that shed the least hair.

Dog hair can be frustrating, often covering your carpets, soft furnishings, sofas and clothing.

Finding a family-friendly, loving dog that doesn't leave piles of hair around your home can be challenging.

However, professional dog trainer Garret Wing said there are three breeds that "shed the least" and are also family-friendly.

Garret posted a short video on the American Standard Dog Training YouTube channel describing the three breeds in detail.

1. Miniature Schnauzer

Miniature Schnauzers are a small dog breed that originated in Germany. They are known for being friendly, smart, and obedient, making them ideal family pets.

The breed is also known for not shedding and for having an outgoing personality. Its beard and fluffy eyebrows give it a charming expression.

Garrett said the Miniature Schnauzer is a "lot of dog packed down into a bite-sized package" and an "amazing little guard dog."

3. Xoloitzcuintle (Mexican hairless dog)

Also known as the Mexican hairless dog, the Xoloitzcuintle is a hairless dog breed that dates back 5,000 years.

While their appearance may seem strange to some, this breed is calm, loyal and a brilliant watchdog.

Garret said of the breed: "It literally has no hair so it can't shed but you do actually have to rub it with some SPF 50 otherwise, it's gonna get a sunburn."
