The Real Housewives of New Jersey that we know and love is gone. After a frustrating and tense Season 14, the show was put “on pause.”
Consequently, longtime cast member Dolores Catania understandably has some feelings about it too. Dolo joined the show for Season 7. As a childhood friend of Teresa Giudice, she was already caught up on all the cast dynamics.
But as the seasons went on, the cast also became more and more divided. Now Dolores is giving her take on what brought down the franchise that used to be a fan favorite.
Dolores Catania saw it coming
Speaking with PEOPLE, Dolores started by basically admitting RHONJ hasn’t been filming.
“We didn’t film last season, so we’re not coming back. We’re not going to be airing in January or February,” she revealed. “Of course, I’d look forward to seeing my cast come back on the screen or even come back to film, but they made a mess. I’m a little mad that everybody couldn’t get it together. I really am.”
Subsequently, Bravo gave the Jersey girls the kiss of death and axed the reunion. Further, going into the Season finale, Dolores was determined to save her friendships.
“On my way to that finale, I spoke to a therapist and asked her for some tips on going in and speaking to the women. I wrote it down in the car ride on the way there. And no matter what I did on and off camera, nothing helped,” she recalled. “You could see I was defeated. I sat there and I knew you wouldn’t be seeing us for a while, I saw it coming.”
Additionally, the Paterson, NJ native is hopeful that one day, the cast will return and if they do, they can make it work.
“I know I would. I think that given some time for things to cool down, maybe they would try to do that too,” Dolores said. Moreover, “It’s time to put egos aside. You don’t throw something like this away. We had great ratings. We did well—we just have to learn how to act. This is what life is. It’s about fighting and making up.”
