Dolph Lundgren is cancer free. The actor confirmed the news through his social media. From the hospital, following his treatment, the 'Rocky IV' antagonist gave the good news. "Health update. I'm finally cancer free with great gratitude and excitement about a bright future. Thank you very much for your support always," he wrote on Instagram.
Doctors detected a rumour in his kidney nine years ago, in 2015. Although the doctors managed to remove it, the cancer spread to other areas. In fact, six more tumours were removed, but one, in the liver, seemed definitive. It was the size of a lemon. He was then told he had two to three years left to live.
When he received this news and feared the worst, his attitude was to accept it philosophically. "I've had a great life, it's like I've lived five lives in one," he explained. In fact, the actor confessed that at that moment he did not feel especially sad for himself, but for his family. Despite everything, a treatment in the United States changed his future completely.
Dolph Lundgren: "She has taught me to live in the moment"
"It has been a difficult road that has taught me to live in the moment and enjoy every moment of this life. It's the only way to do it," the actor reflected before undergoing the last session of ablation, the treatment that has managed to eradicate his cancer after nine years of dealing with the worst script of his life.
"Since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, I guess I'll be cancer free, so I'm looking forward to this surgery," he commented with a smile before undergoing this last session. Ablation, according to the American Cancer Society, uses high-energy radial waves to heat and destroy the tumor. It is a very minimally invasive process.
