Showing their true colors! Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley admitted that she gets a kick out of seeing her costars “talk s–t” about her on the show.
“I like to see when people are talking s–t, quite frankly, because [if] they don’t have the balls to say it to your face, they’ll say it in their confessional,” the fashion designer, 48, told Vogue on Monday, December 9. “And I always think that’s such a chicken way out.”
Dorit continued, “Don’t get me wrong, I like being sassy and fun. But at least it should echo what you say when you’re with the person, and not be totally different. There are some women in the group that will be very silent and not share their feelings and then [it’ll] flash to their confessional and they’ve got a lot to say. But listen, that’s the nature of it.”
Dorit has been entangled in drama with longtime friend and costar Kyle Richards since the season 13 reunion of RHOBH, which was filmed in January and aired in February and March. The Beverly Beach by Dorit founder showed costar Erika Jayne a private text message from Kyle, 55, and asked for Erika’s opinion.
“There’s stuff with Kyle and I that’s going on and it hurts and bothers me the most,” Dorit explained. “I haven’t heard from her in a couple of months. Then, she sends me a text yesterday, basically trying to silence me. It was so manipulative, it was so calculated.”
The moment seemingly led to a breaking point between Kyle and Dorit, who had already been butting heads throughout season 13 over Kyle’s lifestyle changes and lack of transparency about her friendship/relationship with Morgan Wade.
“It’s very important to note that the issues in our friendship were a year or two on, and there was a series of events in that time, over a sustained period of time, that led me to feel like, ‘OK, I’m done. Enough is enough,’” Dorit told Deadline on November 14 ahead of the season 14 premiere on November 19.
She continued, “Sharing the text message with Erika in my trailer was [me] confiding in a friend that I was feeling like one of my best friends was not even treating me as if we were friends any longer. So it was very justified in my mind.”
Though Dorit and Kyle’s friendship is still on the rocks in season 14, as fans have seen in the episodes released so far, the Halloween actress revealed to Life & Style on November 19 that their relationship did improve.
“It has been bumpy. You will definitely see that throughout the season, but I think we ended on a high note, and I do think we’ll keep pushing forward,” she explained. “There’s a lot of love there!”
Dorit added that her friendship with Kyle “took a bumpy turn a long time ago.” However, she added, “This season you’re just seeing us face the issues that we’ve had for a while now. What I hope for Kyle and I in the future is that we can overcome our issues and that we both want a stronger friendship.”
