Actress Jessica Brown Findlay has opened up on her devastating journey to motherhood as she had four miscarriages.
The Downton Abbey star, 35, is a proud mum to twin sons, who she welcomed through IVF with her husband Ziggy Heath. They were born in November 2022 and Jessica has now revealed the heartbreak she had before welcoming her boys. She also emotionally shared how she had a miscarriage just two months ago.
Jessica said: "Before the boys were born, I had three [miscarriages]. I had two with conceiving unaided and one chemical miscarriage that happened with IVF that we knew was going to happen because the bloods had come back with really low numbers. They do a blood test and they want to see this number double, and it just wasn't.
"And then one happened about two and a half months ago." She opened up on the loss to Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast: "We were kind of terrified but thrilled. We went for a scan, we went back to our doctor, our amazing doctor who'd helped us get our twins.

And it felt like this joyful gift out of the universe." When at a friend's wedding, Jessica was overcome with the horrible feeling she was going to lose her unborn child.
"This kind of intuition. We have it in positive circumstances, but there's also something. This sense of dread, this real kind of thing that you just know," she shared. "And I thought, instead of me going to this wedding and googling wild theories and signs at 3am when I should be celebrating with our friends, I'm going to book myself in. I went the next morning and I went for a scan, and there wasn't a heartbeat anymore.
"I'd gone on my own because I was like, 'look, no, no, no, I'm fine. Because you're working. We've got the boys. I'm just going to go and if everything's okay, then I'll just come home'." Jessica continued: "I was obviously devastated. The woman said that I should get myself to a hospital. I just made a beeline for the hospital where the boys had been born because I wanted to be somewhere familiar."
The actress also opened up on her pregnancy with her twin boys: "Every day I was pregnant, I just wanted to enjoy that day as it was. It made me really sit and be present and really try to enjoy what it is." Jessica welcomed her boys on Bonfire Night in 2022 and confirmed her pregnancy while on the red carpet at Venice International Film Festival's closing ceremony just two months before.
