Drake Bell wants to revisit his most popular role.
The actor recently stopped by the Beyond the Velvet Rope podcast, where he discussed a desire to reboot Drake & Josh with Nickelodeon co-star Josh Peck.
“I have a really special place in my heart for Drake & Josh, and I would love to revisit the character,” Bell said. “I’d love to revisit something with Josh, whether it’s a reboot or… my dream is to do something kind of like Curb Your Enthusiasm, where we’re playing ourselves but trying to navigate life today.”
The singer also noted he already has an idea of why Bell and Peck would be reuniting for the potential reboot.
“Maybe I’m trying to get him back together with me and he’s like, ‘Dude, you’re annoying, get away,'” he explained. “I don’t know what it is, but I would love to do some kind of Entourage or Curb Your Enthusiasm-type thing with Josh one day.”
Not only does Bell want to reteam with the Oppenheimer actor but also the rest of his fellow co-stars, including Miranda Cosgrove, Nancy Sullivan, Jonathan Goldstein, Jerry Trainor, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alec Medlock and Scott Halberstadt.
“It’d be really cool to have Crazy Steve, Helen, Craig and Eric, Audrey and Walter, and bring the whole gang back, you know, Megan,” he said.
Drake & Josh followed two teen stepbrothers who couldn’t be more different and are forced to live together after their parents marry each other. With their separate friends and aspirations in high school, as well as Megan who devotes her time to pranking or messing with the boys, they have unpredictable days and silly adventures as they become a family.
The series ran from 2004 to 2007 and led to two movies Drake & Josh Go Hollywood and Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh, as well as TV special Really Big Shrimp. It also launched the careers of Bell, Peck and Cosgrove.
While there are no plans to reboot the series at this point, Nickelodeon has found some success in bringing back shows that were popular in the early 2000s, including iCarly, starring Cosgrove, Zoey 101 and Good Burger.
