Drake came for the defense of rap during a recent live stream where Adin Ross appeared to criticize it.
The rapper joined Ross for a 'Drizzmas Giveaway' stream last night (Dec. 26) and spoke up for rap music after Ross said that it’s “dead.”
“Let’s not go there,” said Drake, which prompted Ross to attempt to explain why it’s “dry” instead. “It’ll never die.”
“It was a weird NBA season, that’s all,” continued Drake — also revealing that he’d let Ross listen to his collab album with PartyNextDoor ahead of everyone else.
Drake’s 'Drizzmas Giveaway' gave thousands of dollars in cash and prizes to his fans. One of those winners was Ashley, a mother who lost one of her sons, who received a dream vacation. Another one of them was Jonathan, who received tickets to see Drake perform in Australia. For another woman, Karina, a mother of three, Drake gave her a car.
The stream was nothing but good holiday vibes — but Drake made it clear that he’s not a fan of being given Unc status. While Ross read fan comments to Drake, he relayed to him, ‘Someone said, Where’s the album, Unc?’ Where is your album?”
Drake heard that and immediately fired back. “First of all, fuck you,” he said.
Ross, taken aback by this, wondered why. “Me?” he asked Drake. “Oh, him?”
Drake kept the exchange going. “I don’t know. Both of y’all,” he said. “Unc?”
Drizzy’s incredulous response inspired Ross to make him feel better. “You’re not Unc, yet,” he said. Drake laughed off the retort.
Elsewhere during the giveaway stream, Drake seemingly referenced Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” diss while shouting out Sexyy Red. "She is me!" Drake said. "She'll be like, 'Man, I'm always with you, man. I just be thinking about you, man.'... Shoutout to Sexyy!"
"When I see her, I see two bad ones, n***a, what's up?" Drake said with a chuckle. "Fuck what y'all talking 'bout... Shoutout Sexyy. W Sexyy in the chat."
