Drake Producer Gordo Says It’s 'Time to Get to Work’ After Kendrick Lamar Drops ‘GNX’

Gordo, the producer who's worked with Drake several times, has tweeted that its 'time to get to work' or hit the studio, just hours after Kendrick Lamar surprised the music world by dropping his sixth studio album, GNX.

On Friday, Gordo shared a tweet on X in which he seemingly responded to the commotion surrounding K Dot's surprise album. In his tweet, Gordo spoke about going back into the lab to record new music. His tweet comes at an interesting time, just after the release of Kendrick's new album and his vicious rap beef with Drake last Spring.

"Sighhh.....time to get to work *opens up fl studio," Gordo wrote.

Gordo first collaborated with Drake by producing six tracks on the latter’s house-inspired album Honestly, Nevermind. They continued working together on Drake’s For All the Dogs in 2023, and Gordo secured two features from the 6 God on "Sideways" and "Healing," both from his debut album, DIAMANTE, released earlier this year.

In July, Gordo had a conversation with People, during which he gave an update on Drake's well-being since the beef between the Toronto star and Kendrick kicked off. According to Gordo at the time, Drake seems to be unbothered by the feud and is actually "happier" now.

"The thing is that he was just on the longest tour ever [It's All A Blur Tour – Big As The What?]. He literally did a tour for like a year. I think he's just chilling," Gordo told the publication. ""Ever since all this has happened... I've seen him happier. It's really weird. He's pretty jolly... The internet makes it seem like, 'Oh, that photo, he's all sad and shit.'"

He continued, "That's just a bad photo from a bad camera. But because it's him, it's put under a magnifying glass like, 'Oh, look at his eyes. He's looking a little droopy. He hasn't slept.' But the guy's been happy as shit, to be honest. He's chilling."
