Eamonn Holmes 'hooked' on simple diet change that helped him shed three stone

Eamonn Holmes has shared how he managed to lose three stone (19kg) by simply adding juicing to his diet.

The veteran broadcaster, who turned 65 yesterday, revealed his weight loss secret during a candid chat about slimming down with The Mirror.

In the 2021 interview, Eamonn confessed that just nine months after making a New Year's resolution to shed some pounds, he became "hooked" on juicing and lost 10lbs (4.5kg). He also mentioned that even in 2021, juicing remained a crucial part of his daily routine, stating that "if I have lunch, I will have a juice for dinner".

However, this wasn't the last time Eamonn would open up about his health. In 2024, the former This Morning host faced a series of health issues that occasionally necessitated the use of a wheelchair, SurreyLive reports.

Earlier this year, following his separation from Ruth after 14 years of marriage, Eamonn gave a heart-wrenching update on his quality of life. In an Instagram video, he explained that he had no choice but to find a new home for his adopted dog, Bella, as he was unable to care for himself.

The GB News presenter urged: "Think about giving Bella a home. If I could walk and look after myself, she would be mine, but instead, you could be me".

Eamonn has faced some tough battles since around 2022, having gone through multiple surgeries including one on his back. His extensive medical episodes also feature a double hip replacement, and he's dealt with conditions such as shingles, a slipped disc, and a spinal operation.

Looking back on his decision for hip surgery, Eamonn told The Telegraph: "Waiting was the worst decision I ever made. After having both of mine replaced seven years ago, aged 55, I haven't had a single regret: in fact, it's been life-changing."

In the quest to shed pounds, Eamonn is not alone; juicing is a strategy many swear by, including social media influencers. TikTok's @myhealthandbeautyrecipes, for instance, promotes a juice blend that supposedly helps with weight loss.

The recipe featured in their video boasts three carrots and two oranges, proclaiming: "Drink a glass of this secret military beverage every morning for a week, and you'll see the fat from your belly disappear rapidly."

According to the TikTok tipster, here's how to concoct the drink: "Peel three carrots and cut them into small slices. Carrots are the most commonly used vegetable in weight loss diets. Peel two oranges and cut them into small pieces. Oranges melt fat deposits around the abdomen and hips, and facilitate digestion."

Additionally, the experts are touting the metabolism-enhancing properties of ginger, advising: "Peel a piece of ginger and cut it into small pieces. Ginger stimulates metabolism by up to 20%, and can increase fat burning. It also reduces hunger, protects and speeds up digestion."
