East London tailoring start-up loses £6,000 in store raid

Thieves gained access to the premises of Batch LDN's Spitalfields store in the early hours of Thursday (24 October), escaping with "almost all" of their AW24 wool herringbone suits, worth £6,000.

The offenders, who also damaged the property by smashing a window using two bricks, were described as "two men, one on a white bike and one on a Lime bike", a spokeswoman for the business told Drapers.

“We are a young business, this is truly upsetting,” she said.

Batch LDN is now appealing for witnesses who were in the Commercial Street area between 3 and 4am to contact police.

Julian Osborne, who co-founded Batch LDN in 2021 as a modern London-based made-to-measure tailoring business with a focus on smart casual sets, described the burglary as "just another day of typical start-up turbulence".

Drapers has contacted City of London Police for comment.
