Attitude Awards: Elton John makes impassioned speech
Elton John has shared that he worries about "not being around" as he opened up on a number of health issues. The 77-year-old rocketman is set to appear in a new Disney+ documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, as it looks at his sensational rise to fame and the struggles that came with it.
The film explores the singing legend's family life including the wishes that he has for his children - Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11 - who he shares with long-term partner David Furnish.
He said that he wanted to "dedicate more time" to raising them amid his busy touring lifestyle. However, Elton sadly told the Radio Times: "But I don’t think I’m going to be around for that.”
“That really upset me,” admitted David, Elton’s husband since 2014. “Because in my mind I sort of think Elton is going to live for ever – we all think that – and Elton is so vibrant that it’s an easy thing to believe, but it forces you to confront that reality.”
Speaking at Never Too Late’s London premiere, the award-winning superstar shared some of the health issues he has faced over the years. He said: "I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix.

"I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left of me is my left hip. But I’m still here."
Although the pop legend is now completely sober, the star has also previously been open about his issues with addiction throughout the early years of his career.
In 2012, he confessed to NPR about his addictions but admitted he had "wake-up call".
