Dean Andrews may seem like he’s been acting all his life, however, the soap star only took up the profession when he turned 40.
The Emmerdale star joined the popular show in 2019, but he’s certainly made his mark over the years - from marrying long-time character Kim Tate to now secretly plotting against her.
Away from the spotlight, he is a happily married man after tying the knot last year at the age of 60.

Early life
Dean was born on 6 August 1963, making him 61 years old. He is originally from the same neck of the woods as Emmerdale after growing up in Rotherham in West Riding of Yorkshire.
He attended Oakwood Comprehensive School where one of his classmates was Top Gear presenter James May.
Acting career
Before he became an actor, Dean was working as a club singer in his hometown.
He explained that people from his area didn’t have dreams of growing up to become actors as they would have been laughed out of the careers office.
However, at 40 years old he decided to take a chance and went on to star as DS Ray Carling in the BBC drama series Life on Mars and its sequel series Ashes to Ashes.
He even had a role on an episode of EastEnders back in 2002 as a character named Dean.
While he worked as a singer he would sometimes earn as little as £42 a night.
That has made him conscious of his money with him sharing that he pays himself a basic wage from acting.
He’s also made investments in a barber ship and beauty salon in Rotherham to make sure he always has some wage.
In 2019, he joined the cast of Emmerdale as Will Taylor.
Married life
Dean is married to his long-term partner Helen Bowen-Green. The couple have been together for over two decades after they met at a mutual friend's 40th birthday.
He explained that Helen told him that she wouldn’t get married after he turned 60, which urged them to organise their wedding - which landed on his 60th birthday in 2023.
“We never found time to get wed,” he told The Mirror. “And then Helen said: 'I won't marry someone over 60.' So I thought. 'I better get that sorted.'.
“People did say 'Deano, why get married at 60?' but I'm happy to have found love with such a wonderful woman and [wanted to] celebrate that.”
Looking back on the start of their relationship, he recalled: “She had recently separated and I had also recently separated. I saw her at this party and thought she was a rather attractive lady, so it wasn't too difficult for me to ask if she'd like a drink. As for the big event? 'It was a brilliant day.”
Dean is the father to two daughters, Sharny, aged 39 and Alice who is 33 years old.
He has three grandkids, daughter Alice's children Ida-Rae and Thor, plus daughter Sharny's son Hendrix.
