Emmerdale star James Moore has married his partner Sophie Edwards, two years after getting engaged.

The actor, who plays Ryan Stocks in the ITV soap, swapped vows with Sophie at the stunning location of Cheltenham's Manor By The Lake.

James was joined by his Emmerdale co-stars on the day - Dominic Brunt (Paddy Kirk), Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle), and Emma Atkins (Charity Dingle). Ash Palmisciano (Matty Barton) was one of his groomsmen.

"Ash was part of my groom’s party we came into Emmerdale at the same time", James told OK! Magazine.

"I’m disabled and playing a disabled character, he’s trans and playing a trans character, so we bonded early on because of the commonalities we have."

James opted against tradition with his outfit choice on the day, wearing a striking purple suit. Bride Sophie, meanwhile, looked radiant wearing a floor-length white gown.

Taking to Instagram to share a look inside their big day, James wrote: "Our wedding was so incredible! Thank you to everyone that made it so special. "I’m so happy and proud to announce there is a new Mrs Moore. I love you!"

James has cerebral palsy, as does his on-screen persona Ryan. In his wedding speech, he talked about the challenges he faced growing up with the disease and how he feared it would stop him from ever getting married.

Sophie said: "That really tugged on everybody’s heartstrings because it just proves that love is there for absolutely everybody. It was one of my highlights of the day. His speech ruined me."

For now, James and Sophie are enjoying newlywed bliss. Looking to the future, they hope to buy a home of their own and start a family in the coming years.

"It feels surreal. It was so busy and so intense, it’s nice to have a bit of time to ourselves," James said.

"We want to start a family in 2026 or 2027 but we need a house first. We need the room. I’ve got too many vinyl records to fit a baby in our flat!"
