Eva Longoria and family leave 'dystopian' US: 'This chapter in my life is done now'

Eva Longoria has revealed she has left Hollywood, having been born and raised in the US, and now lives overseas with her family.

In a candid chat with Marie Claire, the Desperate Housewives star, 49, revealed she and husband José Bastón now live between Spain and Mexico.

"Whether it's the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s--t on California – it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now," she told the publication.

The mother-of-one, who hails from Texas, says she knows how lucky she is to be able to pick up things and make the move.

"Most Americans aren't so lucky. They're going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them," she added.

After Trump's win in the US Presidential election, Longoria called America "a scary place".

She and Mexican producer and executive husband Bastón tied the knot back in 2016 after meeting on a blind date.

She told Isabel Allende on a recent episode of her podcast, Conversations with Eva Longoria that jealousy used to play a part of her past relationships, but not anymore.

"I think that's why, with my second marriage – no wait, my third – finding love at 40, I found [my husband] when I was 40 – and he was 50 – it was just like, 'Can we just enjoy this life together?'"

Longoria is best known for her work on the hit show, Desperate Housewives, alongside the likes of Brenda Strong, Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher, Nicollette Sheridan, Marcia Cross.

The actress recently said that despite rumours of a cast feud, they weren't feuding but were just pitted against one another because they were women on a TV show.
