Extractor fan grease will ‘vanish in 30 seconds’ if you use 1 ‘game-changing’ natural item (Image: Getty)
Cleaning extractor hood filters can be a nightmare as grease loves to gather in the small mesh holes.
This appliance is crucial for catching grease from cooking fumes, so ensuring extraction vents remain unclogged is vital.
Tracey Heaton shared a cleaning method that worked wonders for her on the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook group.
She said: "So I’ve used absolutely every type of cleaning product upon these for my extractor fan.
“Liquid soda crystals made the grime vanish within 30 seconds and has made it come up brand new.”

The effectiveness of this approach was evident in Tracey’s uploaded photo, which depicted one filter half covered in grease and the other half sparkling after being cleaned with the method.
Intrigued members of the group learned more when Tracey elaborated in the comments: “The extractor fan was in when we moved in here, and the last owner wasn’t a Hincher shall we say.
“I’ve tried putting them in the dishwasher and they still felt covered in grease. I’ve left them to soak. I've scrubbed with Cillit Bang but still no success.

“When we turned the fan on it smelt and I was adamant that we would have to buy a whole new extractor system.
“Then I just covered the filters in liquid soda crystals, used a toothbrush (I use for cleaning only) lightly to go over it and it came off straight away.”
Judging by the comments, Amy is not alone in her praise for the effectiveness of liquid soda crystals.
Simon Higgins agreed: “Yep, liquid soda crystals are bloody amazing, I did mine a week ago. Omg I was ashamed. I normally put them in the dishwasher, but not anymore.”
Others also shared their positive experiences, including Amy Hughes, who said: “They always look sparkling clean when I use soda crystals.”
Kathy Jones suggested an alternative, saying: “Dishwasher brings them up a treat if you have one. But good to know liquid soda crystals work too.”
Anne Seward was also impressed, saying: “I’d never heard of liquid soda crystals before this page. It’s game-changing. It literally cleans everything.”
