Loyal Egenes — i.e. fans of the K-pop group Enhypen — now know what they will be doing this November.
Enhypen: Fanmade, a documentary that follows K-Pop stars Enhypen and their fans, will be released in select AMC Theaters on Nov. 8 — and The Hollywood Reporter has the first trailer.
The film follows parallel journeys between the group and Egenes. It will show Enhypen as they perform on their U.S. arena tour, building towards the Samsung Galaxy Fanmade concert, where five female fans come together to create a unique experience for the band and the fans, according to a release.
“It’s just about community,” one fans says in the trailer, showing scenes of fans coming together. “I think all humans want community.”
The project hails from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, owned by Candle Media, and Good-People, the new production banner from Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 filmmakers William Swann and Casey Feldman. Caroline Suh, who was behind K-pop doc Blackpink: Light Up the Sky, directed.
The documentary will included behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and performances from the seven-piece boy group, comprised of members Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-ki.
Fanmade: Enhypen also includes an original song, “HOME,” which the group released last week. Engenes surprised the band with the song during the Samsung Galaxy Fanmade concert last May, stopping the concert to sing the song to the group. Enhypen then recorded the song, which was produced by Rob Grimaldi and co-written by Grimaladi and Ryan Curtisas, as a gift back to the fans.
Hailing from Korean entertainment company Belift Lab (a subsidiary of entertainment conglomerate Hybe), Enhypen was formed through the music survival series I-Land. The series, a joint venture between Hybe and Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM, aired on the CJ ENM-owned channel Mnet in South Korea.
The group released their second full-length album in July, Romance : Untold, which earned the group their highest ranking on the Billboard 200 chart, debuting at No. 2. Jay, a Seattle native, told THR about this stage in the group’s career: “We’re opening up a new chapter of Enhypen with this album and I think it’s going to be a turning point, which will open up new potential for us.”
