An entire decade has passed since actor Philip Seymour Hoffman tragically died, and his son is now following in his father's footsteps.

Cooper Hoffman was just 10-years-old when his Oscar-winning dad passed away following a battle with drug abuse, but he's rolled back the years for fans of his father as he has an 'uncanny' likeness to him in Saturday Night, a movie all about the making of Saturday Night Live.

You'll remember Hoffman for his iconic roles in Boogie Nights and The Big Lebowski - two epic films to come out of the 90s, as well as his legendary performance as Truman Capote in the 2005 crime thriller Capote.

He won his Academy Award for 'Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role' for his portrayal of the writer, who traveled to Kansas with his partner to research a murder case for his new book and soon developed a relationship with one of the killers he was speaking with.

His esteemed career saw three other Oscar nominations as an actor before directing the drama romance Jack Goes Boating in 2010.

But while his performances didn't falter onstage, behind the scenes he confessed to TMZ that he had sought treatment for drug abuse having admitted to using heroin, as well as prescription drugs.

In February, 2014, just a month before Cooper's 11th birthday, Hoffman was discovered dead in the bathroom of his Manhattan apartment, in New York, following a drug overdose.

Now, 10 years on, Cooper has featured on the big screen across the US for his role as former TV producer Dick Ebersol in Saturday Night - released last month.

While another tweeted a video of Copper, writing: "In saturday night, cooper hoffman does something that reminded me so much of his dad that i got choked up."

A third wrote: "I don’t wanna see that movie at all but my god the kid has got it."

Meanwhile, someone else added: "Oh man, please tell me we're going to get another Hoffman era. We need to protect him."

The film is all about the premiere of the now much-loved Saturday Night Live and details the tensions that built-up between producer Lorne Michaels and the young writers and comedians.

Saturday Night current has a respectable score of 72% on Rotten Tomatoes and an even better score of 84% on the Popcornmeter.
