Strictly Come Dancing series 22 Week 7 sees JLS star JB Gill’s pro partner, Amy Dowden, absent from the results. Host Tess Daly addresses Amy’s disappearance from the show by explaining to viewers the dancer wasn’t able to join the rest of the cast for the results show. A spokesperson for Amy has now issued a statement, much to the relief of her fans.
Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden made a return to the competition series this year – much to her fans’ delight. The 34-year-old dancer battled cancer last year and was able to return “home” in judge Shirley Ballas’ words for series 22.
Amy Dowden’s Strictly absence
Strictly Come Dancing’s results show was missing a fan favorite this Sunday after Amy Dowden endured a medical emergency.
The Welsh dancer and her partner, JB Gill performed a Foxtrot during Saturday’s live show, but Amy was later rushed to hospital after falling ill.
Amy’s absence was noticed when the results show aired on Sunday. The show was filmed on Saturday night after the live show ended.

Amy is a ‘cancer warrior’
Strictly star Amy was awarded an MBE this year “for services to fundraising and raising awareness of inflammatory bowel disease.”
She’s an advocate and ambassador for charity Crohn’s & Colitis UK. Amy’s health worries worsened when she dealt with serious illness last year, battling stage three breast cancer.
After being diagnosed in May 2023, she “came out the other side, with doctors declaring ‘no evidence’ of cancer in her body as of February,” per Radio Times.
The BBC show dancer writes in her Instagram bio: “Breast cancer warrior” and shares a pinned post on her page detailing the day she “rang the bell,” marking the end of her cancer treatment in November last year.
At the time, she penned: “Thank you all for your love and support along the way. My dancing shoes are warming up and I can’t wait to get back in the training room!”
Now, thankfully, Amy is back on Strictly and her Week 7 absence came down to a bout of “feeling unwell,” that she’s bouncing back from.
