Fans Think Drake Alludes to LeBron James on "Fighting Irish"

Drake has fans thinking he dropped some bars alluding to LeBron James in his new "Fighting Irish" freestyle with Conductor Williams.

The freestyle, released on Friday, features Drake getting several things off his chest in his beloved stream-of-consciousness flow. At various points during the song, Drizzy drops a few verses that many fans believe reference the four-time NBA champion.

For starters, the freestyle is called "Fighting Irish," which is the name of the basketball team LeBron played for during his days at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. Drake also mentions trading a watch with someone that had an Arabic dial, and LeBron has been seen wearing a similar timepiece over the years.

Drizzy then recalls the same person convincing his "gang" that things were falsely rooted in love while also describing how summer traditions were no longer taking place. Fans connected that to LeBron frequenting Caribana and OVO Fest in the rapper's hometown of Toronto for summer vacations.

"Remember we tradin' watches? / I gave you that Arabic dial, you gave me a numbered edition / You would even check up on my son like a pediatrician / Sure convinced the gang this shit was rooted in love when it isn't / Show me how different we are, there's blessings in juxtaposition / I guess now you boys gotta abandon your summer tradition," raps Drake.

Others believed that Drake also referenced his "family"-style relationship with LeBron and how that bond no longer exists. He also claimed that he did not want the situation to escalate to the point where information was leaked about the person he was rapping about.

"Talkin' 'bout we family, well, I'm not the cousin to visit / God forbid we ever got to tarnish your public image / All that brother talk as if I really discovered a sibling," Drake continues.

It's also worth noting that Drake has a tattoo of the Fighting Irish-era LeBron on his left arm, as seen in the tweet below.

People quickly took to social media to share their takes on the bars. While reactions were split down the middle regarding Drizzy's lines, others questioned how Kendrick could call out Snoop Dogg for sharing a post about the beef, but the Canadian superstar couldn't do the same with LeBron or DeMar DeRozan.

Check out some of the reactions below.
