Fans wonder if Jimmy Fallon arrived 'drunk' at Macy's Thanksgiving Parade

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has come and gone for another year, though users on X were seemingly more entertained by Jimmy Fallon following his appearance.

While standing under an umbrella in the pouring rain, the 50-year-old was spotted wearing black sunglasses for the occasion.

This led to users on social media whether the Tonight Show was trying to hide his eyes after a long night of partying.

"Jimmy Fallon was clearly on a bender and woke up and proceeded to show up at the parade," wrote a user on X, with another adding: "Is Jimmy Fallon drunk? At 8:45am?"

Another wrote: "Jimmy Fallon wearing sunglasses in the rain is the big hangover energy American can relate to today."

"Drunk Jimmy Fallon rocking shades during a clouded rainstorm," wrote another, while another joked: "Sunglasses in the rain is the most Jimmy Fallon that Jimmy can Fallon."

While the look certainly attracted plenty of jokes, there were some who defended the choice.

"Why is there so much hate for Jimmy? And him wearing sunglasses when it rains...if you know Jimmy and his humor you know it's just a gimmick."

Fallon known for wearing sunglasses

This isn't the first time Fallon has worn sunglasses for the parade. He's even worn glasses able to record video in order to give viewers a new look at the festivities.

He was also joined by The Roots star Black Thought, who was also wearing sunglasses, later on in the parade.

Speaking with the DailyMail.com, a source stated that the late night host and his band made a deliberate choice to wear the sunglasses.

"His band (including The Roots) are wearing sunglasses, they all rehearsed in them," the insider stated. "Its pouring and they are getting rushed everywhere."

The 2024 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was a star-studded event featuring performances from the likes of Jennifer Hudson and Irina Menzel.

This year's parade featured 17 giant, helium-filled character balloons, 22 floats, 15 novelty and heritage inflatables, 11 marching bands, 700 clowns, 10 performance groups, award-winning singers and actors, and the WNBA champion New York Liberty.

Despite being held in a downpour, the parade went off without a hitch - having only been cancelled three times since 1924.
