Beloved Below Deck Captain Jason Chambers has people praying for him this winter. The Aussie Bravo star is “anxiously waiting” for more test results from his doctors after a “sun spot turned in six months.”

Captain Jason has spent his life on the water and in the sun. He shines a light on the benefits of the sun, but warns his followers to “choose their battles,” as he navigates a difficult time. The Below Deck star’s health update comes after he opted for a biopsy while in Bali.

Captain Jason’s melanoma diagnosis

Below Deck’s Captain Jason is a Bravo star famed for his charm and good looks.

The Captain made up one-half of everyone’s favorite dynamic duo with Aesha Jean. But, now he’s experiencing some seriously challenging times when it comes to his health.

He explains via Instagram: “Hi everyone, look, update on the biopsy that I had,” before confirming he was diagnosed with melanoma.

Captain Jason continues: “I’m in Australia, and that was done in Bali,” before telling people how he’s waiting for further test results in his home country.

“I’m waiting for the specimen to come from Bali,” he explains.

He then adds: “It’ll be here this week, but i may not get it until after Christams so that’s a bit of a wait. Fingers crossed.”

He writes in the post caption how he has “spent their life in the sun, as a child playing sport to working on the ocean…”

Captain Jason continues: “I thought I was resistant to the damaging effects of the sun. I love the sun and its health benefits are evident, but be wise and like everything in life, it’s all about balance, choose your battles. With a diagnosed melanoma biopsy, I now have an anxious wait and what I thought was a skin spot turned in just 6 months, early detection is the key.”

Bravo star warns people to protect themselves

As well as providing his fans with a health update, Captain Jason warns his followers to protect themselves in the sun.

“In Australia, two out of three people suffer from melanoma, it’s a big thing. We’ve got a heatwave coming this summer, so make sure you put a hat on…” he explains.

He adds how he “never used to put sunscreen on,” and “used to put zinc on his nose” due to disliking “chemicals” in sunscreen.

But, Jason continues: “There’s so many products that are out there that are chemical free, which is great, so make sure you throw on some sunscreen, get some shade and cover yourself up…”
