Brussels sprouts are loved by some and loathed by many, but there are many ways to make them tastier.

This includes pairing them with bacon as well as a cheesy dressing for the ultimate side dish.

This simple recipe from Tesco Food said: “Even sprout-haters won’t be able to resist this creamy sprout recipe with smoky bacon and parmesan.

“With just a handful of ingredients, this super side dish is ready in less than 10 minutes and this is entirely gluten-free.

“Pair with your favourite trimmings for a winning dinner.”

Ingredients:

1kg Brussels sprouts

One teaspoon of vegetable oil

200g smoked bacon lardons

150ml creme fraiche

20g parmesan, grated

Method:

Start the recipe by simmering the sprouts in boiling water for seven minutes, or until tender, and drain them.

Halve the sprouts and then place them to one side before heating the oil in a large frying pan.

Over medium heat, fry the bacon for five to seven minutes until it’s nice and crisp.

Next, mix the creme fraiche with the parmesan and season generously with some black pepper.

Add the sprouts to the pan before pouring in the creme fraiche mixture.

Stir to combine and then serve immediately alongside your roast dinner for a delicious side dish.

You can also use cream instead of creme fraiche for a richer and thinner result.

This recipe serves eight people and according to Tesco, costs just 66p per serving.
