Foldable, Triple Fold is old now; Samsung won a patent for extendable display

Samsung is not only popular for its gadgets but also for the innovative patents that the brand files. And now, the have got the patent of a display tech that has extendable screen. The tech giant recently won a patent for the same in the United states. According to the patent document on the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website, Samsung has got the patent for a new type of display that can be extended from both left and right sides to make the screen larger.

Samsung patent for extendable display

From the patent details, it can be said that the display is designed for large screen devices. Speculations are that the display technology will be used in a flagship tablet by Samsung. The description of the device doesn’t throw light on its way of working. Instead, the description talks about the figures mentioned in the patent document that illustrate the working of the device.

In the images, we can see the device in its compressed form and looks like a tablet. A slot at the top of the device suggest that we could also get to see stylus which will possibly be Samsung Galaxy S Pen. Other figures of the device show it in the extended form where we can see that the device has been stretched from both left and right to offer a bigger display.

As of now, it will be very early to claim or say anything about the patent. One thing which we most probably know is that the device will be reach the market at a slightly higher price range, similar to when Samsung rolled foldable phones for the first time. In the near future, we can also get to know more about the working of the device like how the extended screens will work.
