Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who was released last week when the team acquired Amari Cooper in a trade, has found his next home.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Valdes-Scantling is signing with the New Orleans Saints.

Valdes-Scantling will now be joining the fourth team of his career. The 30-year-old began his career in 2018 when he was drafted in the fifth round by the Green Bay Packers.

Valdes-Scantling spent four years with the Packers, catching 123 passes for 2,153 yards and 13 touchdowns in 59 games. Then, he signed a three-year deal, $30 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Valdes-Scantling spent two seasons in Kansas City, catching 63 passes for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns. He won back-to-back Super Bowls with Kansas City and had a reception touchdown in this past year's Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers. He was released at the end of last season and joined the Bills in free agency.

Valdes-Scantling never got going in Buffalo, as he had just two receptions for 26 yards through six games. Then, he was released when the team added Cooper last week.

It didn't take long for Valdes-Scantling to find his next home, though, as he'll now join a spiraling Saints team in desperate need of wide receiver help.

After winning the first two games of the season, the Saints have lost five straight, including back-to-back beatdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Denver Broncos.

This past Thursday night, the Saints scored just 10 points at home against the Broncos, as quarterback Derek Carr and wideouts Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed sat.

Carr and Olave are expected back soon, but the same can't be said for Shaheed, as he underwent meniscus surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.

Without Shaheed — the team's best deep-threat option — Valdes-Scantling is the perfect addition. Valdes-Scantling has been a deep threat throughout his career, and should perfectly slide into the offense as a big-play threat for Carr when he returns.

It remains to be seen how quickly Valdes-Scantling can learn the playbook and suit up for New Orleans. The Saints have a matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday, which is as close to must-win as a Week 8 matchup can be. Olave could return for that matchup, but the Saints would love to have Valdes-Scantling in the lineup, too.
