The WWE has been increasingly busy with increasing its roster, recently signing two Olympians. Additionally, 10 more wrestlers have been linked to the company through the new WWE ID program.
Now, it has been revealed that the WWE is adding a former NFL player to the NXT roster.
On a recent episode of WWE NXT, former Miami Dolphins cornerback Trill Williams was seen in the background of a short segment in a locker room.
Williams' presence was pointed out by Bobby Shouse, co-host of The Dive Bar Podcast, who also reported that he "originally attended a tryout for the WWE over the summer & has since began working with the company."
Williams first joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2021 with the New Orleans Saints. He was waived after three days due to failing his physical.
On May 17, 2021, Williams was claimed off of waivers by the Dolphins. He made his first NFL appearance against the New England Patriots in the last game of the 2022 NFL Season.
After being paced on injured reserve for tearing his ACL on Aug. 15, 2022, Williams was waived by Miami on Aug. 29, 2023.

There have been countless football players, both professional and collegiate, who have successfully made the successful transition to professional wrestlers.
Arguably the most notable football player-turned-wrestler is Bill Goldberg, who had a lengthy and dominant career with WCW and WWE after playing with the Atlanta Falcons.
Goldberg would go on to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, and the WWE Universal Championship, and be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Another notable WWE Superstar who played football is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who played for the Miami Hurricanes when they won the national championship in 1991. He also played in the Canadian Football League but was cut two months into the Calgary Stampeders' season.
Johnson would go on to find much more success in the WWE, becoming one of the most popular Superstars of all time. He would go on to win the WWE Championship eight times and win the Royal Rumble in 2000.
