The first trailer for Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1: Hunters is here, revealing how Epic plans to put a Japanese spin on its popular battle royale. The upcoming season will begin on December 1 following the Fortnite Remix finale concert. The trailer, which was revealed early by Fortnite followers on social media, gives us a look at the new map and parkour mechanics.
The new island will have a mountain inspired by Mt. Fuji in its backdrop, and even a Giant tortoise not unlike Chaurli in God of War, making it easier for players to orient themselves after landing on it. With a monorail touching many landmarks, the map's building architecture looks modern, but with plenty of zip lines connecting buildings.
Players can climb and vault across walls, and there are new weapons like katanas, but those may not be enough to battle everyone's favorite kaiju, Godzilla. As teased in its official teaser art in the season's announcement, Fortnite Hunters will feature Godzilla and other Japanese figures as its world bosses.
According to previous leaks, the new Fortnite island will be called "Oninoshima", and players can, as Epic states in the trailer's description, "become a Ronin" in chapter 6.
Besides Godzilla, we also see a face and hands demon and a samurai as bosses. As for playable characters, we see Baymax from Big Hero 6, who will be in this season's battle pass, as well as a new slime-like creature, a new design for Fortnite.
The slime creature looks like it's made of the same material as the game's slurp juice, which is what players use to heal themselves. This might be a passive item, granting players health boosts if they're able to tame it.
