Influential evangelist Rev. Franklin Graham has shared a viral video of President-elect Donald Trump and his son Barron when he was younger, noting that the conversation is "one thing we're missing – more parents being parents."
In the resurfaced video, Trump gives "fatherly instruction" to Barron before he heads to school. The President-elect tells his young son, who is also wearing a suit, that he expects "all A's" and that Barron should remember "no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes and you know what else no tattoos" when he's older. Graham, who is the son of evangelist Billy Graham, commends his friend for his parenting.
"This older video from CNN shows @realDonaldTrump giving a young Barron Trump fatherly instruction before he goes off to school," Graham posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. "That's one thing we're missing—more parents being parents."
Other parts of the video show then-5-year-old Barron saying he likes his suitcase and asking if he has to go to school. Trump's wife, Melania, said they would have lunch and then go to school and Trump shared that Barron would learn "reading, writing and arithmetic."
Graham has spoken out about Trump before, being a vocal defender of the President-elect. He was an "evangelical ally" for Trump since the 2016 election, as The New Yorker called him. Graham was against the impeachment process Trump faced, calling it an "unjust inquisition." He also spoke out about the ten Republican members of the House who voted to impeach Trump, comparing them to Judas.
More recently, Graham spoke and gave an invocation before Trump arrived at a campaign rally in North Carolina on November 2, right before Election Day.
Since Trump's presidential campaign win, Graham has taken to X to post about him. Graham suggested on Monday that he agrees with Trump's choice to "shut down" the Department of Education. Graham also commemorated Trump's "great pick" of selecting Tulsi Gabbard to serve as the Director of National Intelligence.
"As President@realDonaldTrump is hard at work selecting his cabinet, pray that God would give him wisdom and that God would bring the best people for these key positions. These appointments affect all of us," Graham posted on November 12.
Who is Barron Trump?
Barron is the youngest of Trump's five children and was born in 2006. He is the only child Trump has had with his current wife, Melania. The youngest Trump child was just 10 years old when his father was sworn in at the White House in 2017.
He is now at New York University, where Trump has praised him for getting good grades in school and for being a great kid.
Compared to his siblings, Barron has stayed away from the public eye for the most part, with his parents previously emphasizing their desire to shield him from the spotlight.
Barron's private life, however, is likely to change as he is in college, where other students can easily take photos and videos of him and share them on social media—similar to what happened to Malia Obama, Barack Obama's oldest daughter when she arrived on campus as a Harvard freshman in 2017.
Now eligible to vote, Barron appears to be helping Trump alongside siblings Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric in attracting more younger voters—a group with which Harris has shown stronger polling. Barron has seemingly had some political influence this election, with his father claiming Barron has been influential in reaching younger voters.
Barron has also held the role of "Web3 ambassador" with his two brothers in the cryptocurrency supported by his family, called World Liberty Financial. Trump posted recent a video encouraging people to "embrace this incredible technology."
Trump told Patrick Bet-David on his podcast during his campaign that his 18-year-old son is not "there yet" for dating.
"I'm not sure he's there yet," Trump said in response to Bet-David asking if Barron "is good with the ladies in school." "I don't think he's had a girlfriend yet."
Barron had told Trump on which podcasts to appear and was the main reason the Trump spoke on Adin Ross and Bussin' With the Boys
